My 1st Swimming Class

Six weeks ago mom and dad signed me up for swim classes at the YMCA. The first day I wasn't too happy to be there. I didn't cry, but I also didn't like it when the teacher called on my to participate. See, there is a song that is sung called, "Hurry, Hurry Climb the Fire Pole" and while it is being sung you get to climb a pole. I wouldn't do it the first day, but since then I have LOVED it. In fact, as the weeks go by I love it more and more and can hardly wait my turn. Teacher Valerie lets me go first now because we just started the second class this week and I am the veteran now. Teacher Valerie said she has never seen a child so eager to climb the pole.

Other songs I love to sing are "Humpty Dumpty." You get to sit on the wall, put your hands on your head, which I do immediately and before everyone else in class, and then mom pulls me into the water really fast. It is so much fun.

Recently, I have enjoyed the "We're Going Fishing" song. You put your index fingers together and then shout out a fish you want to mimic when the song is over. I can't say the different fish, but I make a loud, "ahh" sound.

Dad and mom both come to every class with me. The best part is the last 5 minutes of class is free time so we get to play with various toys. I always grab the blue paddle with the orange net and the red ball. I throw the ball to dad who is sitting on the side of the pool. He throws it back splashing my face. Wheewww it is fun!

Making More Friends, I Think

Yesterday mom took me over to Rylee's house to play and Mylie was also there. Mylie is the daughter of one of mom’s good friend from high school/ college. Yeah I know you can call me a ladies man.

So, Rylee and I got along great because she lets me play with any toy I want and won’t dare take it from me. She also doesn’t mind when I take her toys. Mylie is another story; she can stand her ground or is as strong willed as me and won’t let me push her around. We got into a little tiff over a stroller. We were playing tug of war for a while and all I kept seeing were flashes going off. All the moms thought it was pretty cute so they snapped some photos until I got red in the face and mom thought I might get physical. I had to give the stroller up and was not happy about it. I soon got over it though when I found the Care Bear car in Rylee’s room.

All in all it was a fun day. I ran around a lot and played with a ton of toys. Mylie it was nice meeting you and you are quite sweet. Please forgive my behavior.
p.s. My mom made me write that last line. I still think I should have gotten to play with the stroller.

Beat the Heat Rogan Style

It is hot people!!! So, to keep cool mom and dad let me play with the hose. I love water and filling up buckets with water is a ton of fun. Sometimes though I lose control of the hose and douse myself. Brrrr, it takes my breath away. The shock doesn't keep from playing for long, I immediately put my face in the hose to get a drink or fill up River’s water bowl for her.

My Artwork

When school was out mom got a portfolio of my artwork for the year so she decided to do some art at home. Here I am putting a handprint on my artwork as a final touch. Nice huh?

BIG NEWS...

MY HAIR IS GROWING!!! Now, some of you may not think that at 16 months old I have much hair, but lets stroll down memory lane. The above pictures are of a me a year ago.

In some lights my hair has a red tint to it. The only person in our family that my mom can recall having red hair is my great grandma Baffunno and it was fire red. Uh oh!

Summertime Fun

Lately I have enjoyed the company of my parents. Our days usually consist of a walk or two to the park (I can slide down the slide on my own now), family lunches and dinners around the table, a tantrum or two, stair climbing both inside and outside, and my favorite, playing in the yard.

While I have mastered climbing the steep stairs in our house, I most enjoy climbing the stairs in the front of our house and then hiding behind the chairs until mom peeks around the corner and says boo! Dad and I hang out together outside a lot too. It is a lot of fun.

I still like to play peek a boo and it doesn't matter what I am hiding behind or under I still crack up. I have been drooling so much that my chin has gotten a tiny rash on it and here is the best news...I may be taking only one nap a day now. See, I'm a big boy and big boys don't need to nap as much so mom and dad and going to adjust my nap time soon. I know I will do great!
This week I went over to my friend Rylee’s house and had a blast. I got Rylee to chase me around the house and play hide and seek. Sometimes though she wouldn’t feel like finding me, but I would wait patiently behind the table until she found me. Sometimes it would be a few minutes until she would come. Mom and Aunt Megan even wondered where I was at times.

Jonah Visits from China

Today my friend from China came over. He is visiting family this summer and made a special trip over to my house. It was so much fun being around another boy. He is 6 months old and smiles a lot. I kept putting my head on him. Mom isn't quite sure why I do that, but it is better than me patting babies really hard.

When mom was holding Jonah I got jealous, but didn't get upset until she started to share my toys with him. Everytime she gave him a toy I took it from him. Mom is worried about me. She says I don't share well, but at daycare it is survival of the fittest. No need to worry about me mom!

Today was mom's day to sleep in and when she came downstairs dad told her he had to put me in time out twice for hitting River. Mom was quite surprised as they have never done this before. She asked what time out consisted off and dad said sitting in the corner together. Huh, we will see how this works. If I can persuade dad to bring a book to time out it will be like reading time. Yippee!

4th of July

I spent 4 nights, 5 days in Seattle visiting family. It was a lot of fun. We stopped at Grandpa Scott and Grandma Shell's house first. Ava and I went swimming in a wading pool. I had a lot of fun. One girl would pour water over my face and when she stopped I would follow her around until she did it again. Then we went back to Grandma and Grandpa's house and Ava and I played with the toys. You can see us deciding who is going to get the toy below. Guess who wins?

We stayed at Gamma Linette’s new house. Uncle Todd, Aunt Kim, and cousin Ava came over a ton. It was nice to spend time with them. Cousin Ava is very cute and does a great job sharing. Me, well, I'm the baby so apparently I don't have to. Ava was very understanding, but every once in a while she would walk off and say, "Rogan No" in protest. I swam a ton in the pool at Gamma's clubhouse. I loved to throw the ball and would splash around, but would only stay in mommy's arms. In Gamma's house I would also throw the ball, but then I started to kick it. I'm quite good at it.

On the 4th we took the ferry over to Bainbridge Island to visit Aunt Chris, Gammy, and GG (Great Grandma). I saw my first parade and had a great time exploring GG and Gammy's house. As the parade was going by Grandpa Scott was holding me and would tell me what was going by. We both liked the fire trucks and ambulance!
